Day 6 Part 1 - Farewell to Montecatini

March 16, 2019

Today was a travel day, but a nice short one. We were heading for Florence, only an hour away by car. While Edith went to our favourite little restaurant to buy paninis for lunch, I took a quick walk in the town centre for a few photos.

One sees many modes of transport in Italy, including this elderly lady on a moped.

This is the Guidotti Fountain, it was erected in 1913.

Here's a candid shot of two young girls feeding pigeons.

We'd noticed the night before that there were crews setting up some amusement park rides in the town center.

This is a newer statue in the town center, created in 2017. The subject is Giacomo Puccini, the famous opera composer.

I could not find any information on this next statue, I assume it is a war memorial.

I met with Edith and we got back in the car we'd parked for the last three days. We made the uneventful drive and returned the car to the agency near Florence Airport. We'd be traveling by train for the rest of the vacation.
