Day 7 - Florence Galileo Museum

March 17, 2019

Right next to the Uffizi Gallery was the Galileo Museum. Since we had bought the Florence Museum pass, we could get in for free. I took less photos here than the art galleries, probably due to mental fatigue.

The museum detailed and celebrated the various scientific discoveries and inventions attributed to Galileo. The photos are presented without much explanation but I've included hyperlinks to the museum's website for some items.

The first one is obvious.

This is an astronomical clock. Click here for details.

The next item was an Armillary Sphere. Click here for more..

These early globes are self-explanatory.

This is an early World Map.  Click here for more.

This is a bust of the great man by Carlo Marcellini from 1677.

This device was created to display the the parabolic trajectory of Projectiles. Click here for more.

Here are some barometers and other weather forecasting devices.

And finally, what would a museum dedicated to one person be without a body part. This is Galileo's middle finger. Click here for more.

The photo in the link is better than mine.

We left the museum and had only a little more time to explore Florence. We'd be heading south in the morning.
